I've updated the Cartoon Commune gallery with a few assignments from this summer. I'll haver more up in a week or so.

Cheers!

Street Dancing Zombie Killer

Another Commune assignment. This one is done to mimic a movie poster, kind of a "grindhouse" style.

Dig.

Just the Art

The art for a quick Commune assignment I did last month. The piece was already written. I believe this was used for a wedding invite.

Cheers!

By the Power of Hogwarts!

A head sketch of Harry Potter from Chicago Comic Con and a He-Man I did as a warm-up.

Enjoy.

Chicago Commissions

Besides the 48 custom sketch cards and 27 custom sketchbooks I did over the weekend (yes, my hand is tired), I also did up some full figure sketches and one head sketch. Feast your eyes.

Wonder Woman for my second biggest cheerleader, Nikki. The gray tones with flesh color is something I've been playing with lately. I dig the results.

A head sketch of Captain Dudley, a character created by the gentleman who commissioned this piece.

The Golden Age Sandman.

Luthor from "Challenge of the Super Friends".

Doctor Mid-Nite, the current version.

Old school GI Joe. The guy who commissioned this piece had reference for a bunch of different figures and let me choose which one I wanted to draw. If you're reading this and can send a scan of the pic, it would be greatly appreciated. My picture is a tad blurry.
There is one more full figure I can't post yet because it's a surprise. I'll post when I know it's cool.
Thanks again to everyone who spent their money on my doodles.

Chicago Comic Con: Post Mortem

Chicago Comic Con has come and gone once again, and at least for me it was big success. This was my best Con to date. I was pretty much booked all weekend for sketches. Lots of sketch cards and other commissions were drawn. Not as many hot dogs were eaten. Heck, I even found my Mer-Man figure! All in all, it was a good time. Thanks to my bunk mates Jack and Aaron for making the after con hours fun!

I've updated a few of the art galleries with art I did at the show. Check out the Sketch cards gallery and the new 2009 Skecthbook Covers for a peek. I'll have my full figure sketches up in the Con Sketches gallery soon.

This pick is me at my table on Friday. Dig the banners (thanks Todd!).

Me and my favorite little girl in the world, my daughter Lorelei on Saturday.

The highlight of my show was Steve Sansweet of Lucasfilms stopping at my table and buying some of my Star Wars sketch cards and a sketchbook with Slave Leia on the cover. This was awesome. I'm a huge Star Wars fan, and for someone from Lucasfilms to even acknowledge me made my day. Of course, this little event couldn't happen without a little embarrassment. I misspelled "Utinni" on my Jawa card (I had "Utingi"), and Mr. Sansweet caught it. Ugh! I couldn't believe I did that. I promised him I would dispose of the card, but I was really happy with the sketch. Thankfully I brought my white-out with me. So Mr. Sansweet, if you're reading this, here is the corrected spelling. I googled it and everything.
Thanks to all that came by my table and spent their hard earned cash on my scribbles!
Yub Nub.

Chicago Comic-Con Info

This weekend (August 6-9) is Chicago Comic-Con. I will be attending in Artist Alley for my fourth year. You can find me at table 3306 A. I will be selling copies of my 2009 Sketchbook as well custom sketches. I have over 140 (!) premade sketch cards ready for you to buy at $1.00 each. I also have a stack of blank cards for your custom needs. I'll be doing head sketches for $5.00 and full figure sketches for $15.00. Both head and full figure sketches come with my 2009 sketchbook. Did I mention the free sketch you get on the cover of my sketchbook?

So if you're at the con, keep an eye out for these banners. That will be my table.
